“When Everything Changes, Change Everything”

Well, with everything that has happened over the past month, or so, I have found the need to evaluate–well, everything. The people in my life, where I am headed, what my goals are, and how I will remain steadfast to my lifelong goals (which have not changed). Not that I will provide all of that information here, nor would you find it terribly interesting, I fear, but if there is one thing that remains constant (yes, here come the cliche), it is change.

I have gotten myself out of some pretty horrible situations by learning, and now remembering, that change happens all the time. However, it doesn’t have to happen to us. We can be harbingers of whatever kind of change we so choose. We have a choice in the matter. We can let change destroy us, like undercooked tacos from that “dirty spoon” on the corner (were those really refried beans?), or we can take a lead in the matter and mold that change into what we need, or what we want.

I feel grateful that I learned, so early on in life, that this is the truth. We are not victims to the actions that surround us (much of the time not all), but part of the change process.

So, remember, on this random Tuesday in May 2013 (it is Tuesday, right?) that you have agency, even when it may appear to the world, or even to yourself, that the apocalypse is occurring in the two foot radius around you.

A year ago- hell!- a month ago, I could have never predicted that this would be my life right now. But I am happy for it! Thank you all for being a fundamental part of this change in my life! I hope you are all in it for a long time!
